HONDA MANUAL TRANSMISSION NOISE
Manual Transmission Noises | EricTheCarGuy
I’ve had great success curing manual transmission issues in some Honda transmissions with Syncromesh fluid. I do not recommend using regular motor oil in a Honda transmission. In summary, try to find out if the noise is coming from the transmission or the clutch. If you have a clutch noise inside the bell housing, don’t waste your time.

Apr 14, 2009I found the problem with mine. I had low oil pressure @ idle so I replaced the oil pump and the problem is solved. Honda redisigned the oil pressure relief valve in the pump after 2006. The noise sounds like a chain rattle but it was actually the transmission pump pistons slapping the swashplate inside the transmission.popping noiseMar 17, 2014engine noisesJun 02, 2012Front diff noise. Manual Transmission whining in neutral? - Maintenance
I have a 1997 Honda Civic 5-speed with about 200,000 miles. It is making a low-pitched whining noise when I let the clutch out in neutral. I took it to a mechanic who immediately diagnosed it as the throwout bearing. Being mechanically inclined, I dropped the tranny and changed the clutch and bearing, but started it back up, and the noise is still there - as if I did nothing at all. It is not
Diagnosing Symptoms of a Bad Manual Transmission
Sep 10, 2020Manual transmission problems can develop due to high mileage, abuse, or lack of proper maintenance. But they are rather rare. Most manual transmission issues originate not with the transmission itself, but from related components like the clutch assembly, linkage, or driveline: the components that transmit turning power from the transmission to the wheels.
