Note. Setting the power switch to clears any compensation amount that was set. To retain the setting even after the power switch is set to , set [5: Exposure comp. auto cancel] in [: Custom Functions(C)] to [1:Disable].  or  is shown at the ends of the exposure level indicator if the exposure compensation amount exceeds ±3 stops (or in the viewfinder, ±2 stops).

Apr 25, 20155D3: No exposure compensation in manual mode. 04-25-2015 03:58 PM. I emailed Canon regarding lack of exposure compensation in manual mode on the 5D3. They sent me the reply below. Hoping for a firmware update to correct this issue. If anyone else has an issue with this, please consider letting Canon know your position.

Feb 10, 2019The camera is not adjusting exposure, so AEC becomes meaningless. If you want exposure compensation, manually dial it in and measure Ev on the metering scale in the viewfinder. It is all about the Exposure Triangle. You can set the camera to automatically control exposure by controlling different legs of the ET.

Nov 24, 2011To switch from auto ISO to manual and then select proper iso is just to slow and cumbersome. I think it would be a good idea to implement exposure compensation in M mode by using the joystick. One step to right could rise the iso one step above "correct" ISO and so on. This way I will have total control of shutter+aperture+exposure .
